Safe Disposal of Unused Medicines
The inappropriate disposal of unused medicines may release the chemicals in the medicines into landfills or the sea, contaminating soil and water sources, posing risks to human health in the long run. As Hong Kong’s first chain community pharmacy to have pioneered unused medicines disposal programme, Mannings offers convenience in the disposal service, joining hands with the public to collect household pharmaceutical waste and raise awareness of proper handling of unused medicines, and safeguarding the environment and wellbeing of the community.
- “Unused Medicines Collection Box” is set up at the selected Mannings stores with a pharmacy service
- All medicines collected will be passed to an Environmental Protection Department licensed chemical waste collector, and will then be sent to the chemical waste treatment centre for safe and proper disposal.
- Only Pills are accepted. The Dangerous Drug, Liquid Medicines of any kinds, proprietary Chinese medicine or Health Supplement is excluded.
